The research group at Frederick Shiller University Jena's research group pharmaceutical micro-biology and the research and infection of the Biology (Libnies-HKI) is the top of the pharmaceutical microbiology, Professor Dirk Hofmes, the top of the pharmaceutical microbiology. “We are referring to silicon, which is the substance found in the so -called 'magic mushrooms', which our body transforms into a cellcence. It is a mixture that can deeply change consciousness. However, silicon not only triggers psychological experiences, but also a compound in the treatment of therapy.
Two paths, one molecule
This study, which was done inside the 'microware balance' cloud, shows the primary time that cookies have developed the power to freely produce a silosebon from one another no less than twice. Although the species has used a well -known enzyme toolkit for this purpose, fiber cap mushrooms use completely different biochemical weapons – and still reach the identical molecule. This search is taken into account an example of contradictory evolution: Different species have freely developed similar traits, but 'magic mushrooms' have taken their strategy to achieve this.
Finding a clue in a fungi genome
Tim Shafar, the primary writer and doctor's researcher within the Hafster team, explained: “It was like watching two different workshops, but eventually the same product supply. In the fiber caps, we found a unique set of enzymes that have nothing to do with mushrooms.”
Researchers analyzed enzymes within the laboratory. Protein models, developed by the Inspector Berke Chemist Bernard Rup, confirmed that the response setting is significantly different. “Here, nature has invented the same active compound twice,” says Sheffer.
However, because two such groups produce the identical lively compound since it will not be clear. “The real answer is: we don't know,” Huff emphasizes. “Nature does nothing for no reason. So in the jungle, the fiber cap should benefit both the mushrooms and the species on the fertilizer or wooden miles that prepare this molecule – we do not know what it is right now.”
“One of the potential reasons is that the purpose of the silicon is to stop the predators,” says Hafmeter, even small injuries causes mushrooms to vary the blue through chemical chain response, which shows a silicon malfunction product. Perhaps a kind of molecule is a chemical defense method.
More tools for biotechnology
Although it will not be yet clear why the various fungus produces the identical molecule, there are practical implications of the invention: “Now that we know about additional enzymes, we have more tools in our toolbox for the biotechnology production of silicon.”
Schifters are also looking forward to: “We hope that our results will be helpful without the need for a significant chemical synthesis in the future preparation of the pharmaceuticals for pharmaceuticals.” In Jenna's Libnies-HKI, the Hofmeter team is working together with the bio-pilot plant, which is developing a process for the manufacture of natural products just like the industry on a scale.
At the identical time, this study provides interesting insights concerning the diversity of chemical strategies which are utilized by cookies and their interactions with their environment. In this manner, the primary questions of the cluster of the microscope 'cluster, on the Research Center Cambosis and Frederick Shiller University Jenna, have been mutually, inside the framework, wherein this work was done by the German Research Foundation (DFG). Although the CRC chamboys investigate how natural compounds form a biological communities, the cluster of the Excellence focuses on the complex dynamics of microorganisms and their environment.
