Question I do know that osteoporosis is linked to genetic aspects that I cannot change. But are there things I can do to cut back my risk?
Oh It's true that many risk aspects for osteoporosis, like your gender, age, and genes, aren't things you may change. But there are things you may do to enhance your bone health. This includes eating a healthy weight loss plan wealthy in calcium and getting enough vitamin D, which may also help maintain and improve bone health. Regular exercise may help strengthen your bones or prevent bone loss. In particular, activities that stress your bones, reminiscent of jumping, running, and weight-lifting exercises, can stimulate bone cells to make proteins that strengthen bones. In children, these activities can actually increase bone density. Although adults don't get the identical advantages that children do, exercise can still have moderate effects on bones, helping to keep up strength that may otherwise be lost. To further protect bone health, reduce on unhealthy habits, reminiscent of smoking or drinking an excessive amount of alcohol. If you've gotten risk aspects for osteoporosis, you might also need to seek advice from your doctor about whether any of your medications are harming your bone health.
